Annie wanted to know why
strange foods were being served. I explained that tonight is Rosh Hashanah,
the beginning of the Jewish new year 5776. On Rosh Hashanah, we dip challah (bread) and apples into honey and say pawprayers
asking G*d for a good and sweet year. I also explained that during these high holy days we
need to atone for our sins. So Annie apologized for always stealing treat bags
out of Mommy’s purse. I apologized for being very bossy. Then we both agreed
that we would do our absolute best to be fabulously good girls.
Shanah Tovah! (A good year!)

Rosy how nice to make apologies and to promise to do better. Of course, some of that bossiness is just who you are :) Happy Rosh Hashanah!
ReplyDeleteRosy, you have had many opportunities to teach Annie the history of important occasions. You're a wonderful teacher and I'm sure Annie appreciates all she has learned. The challah looks special and I hope you girls were able to partake. xo
